I guess the saying typically goes, “addressing the elephant in the room,” but in my case bump seems a bit more appropriate. We have been busy growing more than just flowers this season, for anyone out there following along and unaware, yup I am pregnant! Seems the stork will be visiting our family this fall.
Our little family plans; mapping out everything from our business plan to our daily objectives, so discovering I was pregnant during such an aggressive flower season was a pleasant little surprise. Little did I know, the surprises where just beginning.
As a family we were excited to attend the first doctor's appointment and to meet the little bundle that would complete the Harmony Harvest flock of children. That’s when it happened. God laughed at our plan and “introduced” his plan for us. Twins! Yes, re-read that I said twins, now read it again. Yup, still twins. I know, I had to let that sink in a few times too!
Over the next few weeks, months, and doctors’ appointments, we have grown to love these two babies and feel joy and pride each time we see them on ultrasound or hear the heartbeats on Doppler. We have purchased double strollers, additional cloth diapers and even a minivan, (a new role in life I am working to embrace). We were chosen to be a flower farming family AND chosen for this parenting journey as well. I choose to see that as a blessing instead of focusing on the sleep deprivation and envisioning the scary moments two infants can bring.
This coming week Brian and I will head over to UVA for our in-depth ultrasound and hopefully find out the gender of these two little flower kids. We would LOVE to know what you think the babies will be: boys, girls, one of each. Leave your guesses in the comments and if you are dying to know what they are as much as us, head back over here next week where we will officially announce the gender of the twins!
